One of my concerns about living in SF was the difficulty in finding fresh fish. The supermarkets have piles of fish but it has all been frozen. I am very picky about fish and feel that anything frozen is  inedible.

Here I have to pay tribute the Monique, the poissoniere sans pareille. She came to Rians 3 times a week and set up in a cave. Her fish had been caught seconds before and any mention of freezing would bring tears to her eyes.

To my great joy on the Grove Street Farmers market there is a fish stall. The fish is fresh!

It was caught yesterday and what is more  the fish guy has sardines and squid.

So, fried sardine and squid with lemon and olive oil accompanied by a fresh tomato and basil salad.
